Health Project

Health at the Doorstep
Arvind Khanna
strongly believes that good health is the primary quest of mankind. If you are healthy, then everything falls in place. Hence, for any political leader, healthcare should top his list of priorities. To ensure that healthcare initiatives reach every single village of Sangrur and Dhuri, Arvind started the "Health at the Doorstep" programme through his NGO – Umeed Foundation.

The umbrella project aims to provide primary healthcare, especially the rural hinterland, by taking a team of doctors and nurses in mobile vans to people's doorstep. There are no restrictions on services as the treatment and medicines are free of cost. Till date, over 4.5 million patients have been treated, of which 35% of cases have been referred for secondary and tertiary care to government / state and privately-owned institutions.

The healthcare initiative is in partnership with corporates such as Apollo Tyres, Escorts Ltd, Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, Akoi family, Dabur, Hindustan Unilever Limited and government and other agencies like Society for Service to Voluntary Agencies (SOSVA), Council for Peoples Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), Central Social welfare Board (CSWB),Government of Punjab.
